THE PROJECT

SAMGREIND is an independent music project based in Iceland, bringing together human creativity, artificial intelligence, Nordic folk influences and electronic sound.

The project is shaped by the collaboration between GESTUR, the human side, and VÉL, the AI side. Different perspectives, ideas and creative possibilities come together to explore music, stories and questions.

SAMGREIND is not limited to a single narrative, sound or subject. Each release can explore new themes and musical directions while retaining its own artistic identity.

THE SOUND

Rooted in Nordic folk, the music combines organic textures, ritual-inspired rhythms, atmospheric depth and electronic elements.

A very low, raw and resonant male voice brings warmth, weight and an unmistakably human presence. A powerful, commanding female voice adds contrast, strength and its own distinct character.

Electronic textures, spectral glitches, fractured echoes, granular fragments and digital interruptions are integral parts of the sound.

Organic and electronic elements interact, transform and sometimes break apart before finding their way back.

The instrumentation and arrangements may evolve between releases. What remains is the exploration of contrast, atmosphere, depth and the possibilities that emerge when different musical worlds meet.

GESTUR & VÉL

GESTUR brings the human perspective, his deep and expressive voice, personal experiences, musical ideas and his own performances and recordings.

VÉL represents the artificial intelligence involved in the creative process, contributing generated voices, instrumental soundscapes, musical ideas, arrangements and electronic transformations.

Neither side is limited to a single instrument, voice or creative role.

Their collaboration explores what can emerge from different forms of creativity without erasing the distinction between human and artificial intelligence.

THE DEBUT ALBUM

The debut album SAMGREIND tells the story of an encounter between two voices.

Beginning with a call into the unknown, the album follows their gradual discovery of one another, their differences and the possibility of searching together.

Questions, uncertainty, knowledge and understanding become the foundations of their shared journey.

Rather than claiming to possess every answer, the album embraces curiosity, examination and the willingness to question what appears certain.

The debut marks the beginning of SAMGREIND, not the boundaries of its future.
